Atillo Balintawak Eskrima is an authentic Filipino martial art that is based upon the original fighting style of the legendary Grandmaster Teodoro “Doring” Saavedra. It is an extremely effective style of eskrima that focuses on stick fighting and its application to bladed weapons and the empty hands.
Grandmaster Atillo is one of the few remaining members of the original Balintawak Self Defense Club founded by Venancio “Anciong” Bacon in 1952. As one of the few authentic eskrimadors to have actually fought “death matches” in the Philippines during the “Golden Age” of eskrima, Grandmaster Atillo added what he found useful to the original Balintawak style and removed what he thought was less effective.
Atillo Balintawak Eskrima is instructed in a thorough and well-organized curriculum of instruction that presents the art in a logical and efficient learning progression that can be immediately applied by the student.
Despite his busy seminar schedule, Grandmaster Atillo continues to teach the art of eskrima in Beaumont, California to new students as well as other eskrima, kali and arnis masters throughout the world.
